The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 signed into law on December 27, 2020, included certain economic relief in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. While the legislation did not extend the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) beyond December 31, 2020, it did provide a provision for employers to voluntarily offer paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave through March 31, 2021.

Florida State University will be extending both the paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave to employees who have a documented qualifying reason as outlined in the FFCRA, have not exhausted their entitlement under the FFCRA, and do not occupy an exempted job code. This leave will continue to be made available to employees through March 31, 2021. To review information regarding the FFCRA and the voluntary extensions, visit the HR COVID-19 Workplace Guidance webpage.
