COVID-19 Workers' Compensation

Deans, Directors, and Department Heads

This message has been approved by Renisha Gibbs, Associate Vice President for Human Resources and Finance & Administration Chief of Staff, for distribution to all Deans, Directors, and Department Heads.

Please also share this information with any Health Care Providers and First Responders in your department.

The Division of Risk Management has extended workers’ compensation coverage to Frontline State Employees who perform critical functions, which cannot be deferred or performed remotely, and require substantial contact with populations known or suspected of carrying COVID-19.

FSU Frontline Employees whose duties may require contact with persons who may have been exposed to or are otherwise known to be infected with COVID-19 include:

  • First Responders
  • Healthcare Providers

Reporting Protocol

Workers’ Compensation reporting related to COVID-19 remains the same as the standard reporting protocol. Department representatives and supervisors should continue to report work-related injuries or illness to AmeriSys at (800) 455-2079 and complete the standard Accident Investigation Report (AIR). Please document in the report if the claim is COVID-19 related. All Workers’ Compensation information, including forms, may be found on the  Workers’ Compensation webpage.
