Shelley Lopez

Shelley Lopez serves as Director of Communications/Special Projects and Training & Organizational Development in Human Resources. In this role, she leads HR communications and employee training initiatives while providing strategic direction and support for departmental initiatives and special projects. She also serves as the primary liaison to HR department representatives across the university.

Shelley earned a bachelor's degree in Organizational Communication from the University of West Florida in 2008, where she was a member of the university's Forensics Team. She later earned a master's degree in Rhetoric and Interpersonal Communication from Ball State University and served as a coach for the Ball State Speech Team during her graduate studies.

Her professional background includes higher education instruction and public sector human resources. As an adjunct instructor at several colleges, she taught courses in Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, Mass Mediated Communication, and Media Ethics. Prior to joining Florida State University, she worked for the Florida Department of Children and Families as a Research and Training Specialist, where she designed and implemented leadership development curricula.
