Employee Counseling Services

This message to all faculty and staff has been approved by Renisha Gibbs, Associate Vice President for Human Resources and Finance & Administration Chief of Staff.
Dear Colleagues,
As we begin the process of returning to campus, I want to acknowledge the emotional weight many of us may still be carrying in the wake of recent events. This has been a profoundly difficult time, and it’s important to remember that healing takes time and support.
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is here for you. Through EAP, you can access licensed clinicians who provide confidential counseling services, both in person and virtually, and critical incident debriefings designed to help individuals and teams process traumatic events in a safe and supportive environment. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength. Counseling can be a vital tool in navigating the complex emotions that follow a crisis, offering clarity, grounding, and a path toward healing. When we take care of ourselves, we also help foster a stronger, more compassionate workplace community.
In response to the increased need for care, the EAP is working in close partnership with the College of Medicine’s Center for Behavioral Health Integration, and other internal experts on trauma, to expand access to specialized services, ensuring you receive the support you need with continuity and care while maintaining seamless coordination through EAP.
EAP is available to all employees Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. To schedule an appointment or request a debriefing session for your department, please call (850) 644-2288. When you call, please leave a message, and a member of our team will return your call promptly, typically within the hour. If you are in crisis or need immediate intervention, please contact FSU PD at (850) 644-1234. To reach the 24/7 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, call 988 or dial 211 for Big Bend 211, which also can assist with any community referral resource.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Your well-being is essential—not only for your own healing, but for the strength and resilience of our entire community as we move forward together.
Sincerely,
Renisha Gibbs
