Jessica King is the Director of HRIS at Florida State University, a role she has embraced enthusiastically since joining the team in 2025. She brings nearly 20 years of experience in higher education, working in workforce education, program development, institutional assessment, study abroad programs, IT, and HR. Most recently, she served as the Director of HRIS and Analytics at Valencia College.

Jessica holds a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Flagler College and an MA in Applied Sociology from the University of Central Florida. She is a seasoned presenter and has shared her expertise on custom HR systems, security audit preparation, and AI for HR at various conferences. In 2013, she was selected to speak at TEDx Orlando.

She is also an award-winning photographer specializing in lifestyle portraits and macrophotography. Her impactful volunteer work photographing homeless dogs earned her recognition as one of Orange County's "Citizens of the Year."

In addition to her professional achievements, Jessica is a founding board member of The Maker Effect Foundation and has been a co-producer of Maker Faire Orlando since its inception in 2010. In 2016, she was invited to the White House to work with the Office of Science and Technology Policy on the Nation of Makers Initiative.
