Paths: Path refers to the affiliation the candidate has with FSU. When a candidate is on the correct appointment path, it sets the stage for a smooth login and Onboarding process.
There are two paths:
- External Path – for new hires
- Candidates who apply to openings as externals.
- Express appointments created with the “Express Appt” applicant type.
- Candidates register new or log in with existing onboarding credentials via the Onboarding portal.
- Internal Path – for current/former employees and current/former students
- Applicants who apply to openings as employees.
- Express appointments created with the “Employee” applicant type.
- Candidates log in via the myFSU portal with their existing credentials.
- Some data prepopulates into the onboarding session, resulting in faster candidate entry.
When creating Express appointments, it is important to place the candidate on the correct path.
Refer to Training Guides > Recruiting Activities for detailed steps.
How to Tell What Path a Candidate is on:
- External Path: The job offer does not have an employee ID in the FSU Offer – Additional Info section.
- Internal Path: The job offer has an employee ID in the FSU Offer – Additional Info section.
Note: If you place an express appointment on the incorrect path by mistake, reach out to your assigned recruiter for assistance.
Instructions to Add to Department Correspondence with Candidates
-
Include for candidates on External Path:
Please be on the lookout for an email from FSUOnboard@fsu.edu with the subject line “Welcome to FSU”.
The email will prompt you to click the New Users link and create a user ID, password, and security questions to log in to the secure portal and complete the onboarding session. Alternatively, if you have gone through the FSU Onboarding process before, click the Returning Users link to log in with previously created onboarding credentials (these are not your myFSU credentials).
-
Include for candidates on Internal Path:
Please be on the lookout for an email from FSUOnboard@fsu.edu with the subject line “FSU Onboarding Invitation”.
The email will prompt you to use your FSUID and password to log in to the secure portal and complete the onboarding session. If you do not recall the password for your account, FSU IT is available to assist you: 850-644-HELP.
Best Practice: If a candidate is a current/former employee or student and they know how to log in via the myFSU portal, they should be placed on Internal Path.
Packages: The package refers to how much information a candidate must provide in the Onboarding portal based on the type of hire.
There are three package types launched by HR:
- Original Package: a full version of onboarding for new hires and rehires with a break in service of 30 days or more.
- Additional Package: an abbreviated version of onboarding for current employees and recently separated rehires.
- Courtesy Package: an abbreviated version of onboarding for courtesy non-compensated appointments.
