Employee and Labor Relations Training

The Employee/Labor Relations staff is available to provide on site training to Managers, Supervisors and Employees on various workplace issues. In addition, the Employee and Labor Relations Staff partners with the Office of Training and Development to facilitate training classes as part of the Basic Supervisory Practical. Fundamentals of Discipline & Collective Bargaining Contract Administration

This class provides a supervisory orientation on the technical and legal process of administering discipline to affect employee behavior modification and maintain control of employee problems and performance. Participants will learn the different types of disciplinary actions, employee grievance and appeal rights, and become familiar with the concept of progressive discipline. This class also provides a basic orientation on the collective bargaining process and the union contracts administered by the University.

Performance Evaluations

This class provides a supervisory orientation on the technical process of evaluating employees' performance. Participants will learn the different types of employee performance evaluations and the forms associated with them. In addition, participants will gain an understanding of the importance and benefits of completing an accurate evaluation of an employee's performance.

OPS Termination Guidelines

This slideshow provides an overview of the termination guidelines for OPS employees. Managers and department representatives will learn that if they or their department is contemplating involuntarily terminating an OPS employee, they must consult with their assigned ELR contact.
